Sanibel Island is two-thirds nature preserve, providing visitors with an experience of Florida the way it used to be. Hundreds of species of birds, rare and colorful tropical flowers and trees, and an abundance of marine mammals and fish make our islands.
There are many restaurants but by far the best is The Mad Hatter. It offers truly world-class dining in a small venue with a water view. I don’t know for sure, but I suspect the owner may have been told he or she was mad as a hatter for starting a first-class restaurant in a tourist place.

There are fourteen large, covered, group picnic shelters as well as hundreds of picnic tables scattered at various locations throughout the park.  An afternoon picnic among this tropical beach setting is hard to beat.

The site includes 29 miles of shoreline.  The Castaic Lake Dam is 425 feet high and holds 350,000 acre feet of water at full capacity.  Castaic Lake is surrounded by 8,800 acres of recreational land.  Castaic Lake consists of two bodies of water.
Castaic Lake has two bodies of water. Lower lake is for non-power boating and canoeing. Swimming season on lower lake runs from mid-May to mid-September. Upper lake is for sailing, power boating, water and jet skiing, and fishing. The lake is stocked with bass, trout and catfish. Boat rentals and a tackle bait shop are available.
In the upper lake to the North East is the “Fish Arm” which has numerous coves and lots of structure for fish to hide.  To the North West is the “Ski Arm” where the pleasure boater, water skiers, and wake boarders can enjoy a day of boating.
Other recreational activities include hiking, biking trails, picnic areas and playgrounds, Fishing. Fishing at Castaic Lake produces a variety of fish which continue to bite throughout the year.Other species of fish include Largemouth Bass, Striped Bass, Bluegill, Black Crappie, Carp, and Channel Catfish.  You can call the marina for the most recent fish report.

This beach is basically not for lounging but more for diving, surfing, and shell collecting.
During high tide getting into the water is easy with generally moderate surf here. At the same time visitors need to be careful of the loose rocks. Most of the diving areas start with shallow depth averaging 10-20 feet.
The area has lots of rocks and sand, big kelp and on parallel to the shoreline rock crevices that have their own marine world. Friendly fish, light current and not so deep water make it popular among beginner to intermediate level of divers.
There is an abundance of underwater marine world that makes Malaga Cove so special. Diving, one can find Spanish Shawl Nudibranchs, Crabs, Chestnut cowries, Bat Rays, Big Kelp fish, Tree Fish, Blackeye Boby and many more different varieties of marine creatures. Bat Rays and California Halibut are also found here easily.
